Ghana group opponents Senegal will hold their camping base for the 2015 Afcon in either Morocco or Gabon.
This has been revealed by the president of the country’s football federation, Augustin Senghor but the final decision lies in the hands of French manager Alain Giresse.[contextly_sidebar id=”OgoHZ4v4Q2qfELfjP6wdte40GuqPP8Rn”] “It is the coach who has the last word. He has expressed the wish to prepare elsewhere [outside Senegal]. It is between Morocco and Gabon which is near the host country of the Afcon,” Senghor said.
“At the beginning of preparations, the team will converge in Dakar, fraternize with the people and if necessary and approved by the head of State and the Minister for sport, to receive the flag [of Senegal]. From there, we will go directly to the camping base for preparations,” he continued.
The decision to prepare outside stems from the fact that the Teranga Lions need concentration more than the festive ambience that greets the team whenever at home.
Senegal hope to play one or two warm-up games before moving to Equatorial Guinea for the Afcon.
“The friendly opponents will be chosen depending on the country where the preparation will take place but again the coach will decide who,” the FSF president said.
Senegal plays Ghana in the opening match of Group C in Mongomo on 19 January.
