General secretary of the Ghana Weight Lifting Association, Hussien Addy, has stated that the association expects to receive some financial backing from Government for preparation and participation in the 2015 All African Games and 2016 Rio Olympics Games qualifiers.

The Ghana Weight Lifting Association has been one of the most impressive sporting associations in Ghana in recent times consistently winning medals and regularly organising training programmes for the development of their athletes.

With the upcoming All African Games and Olympics looking like another opportunity to win more medals the Association is hoping to recieve support from government and other cooperate bodies to help them achieve to their goals.

“With the All African Games and Rio Olympics , this are activities involving the national teams and as such it is government’s responsibility to provide funds for such programmes.

However, the Weightlifting Association does not relent on its efforts so we will do our best to get sponsorship from cooperate bodies,” said Hussein Addy in an interview with Citi Sports on Tuesday.
The All African Games will take place in September in Brazzaville, Congo while the Olympic Games will come off in August 2016.
