Alexandre Lacazette has disappointed his growing army of admirers after confirming revealing he wants to stay at Lyon for at least another season.
The striker’s goalscoring exploits this term have seen him linked with Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Champions League holders Real Madrid
However, the 23-year-old, who has scored 25 goals in 28 Ligue 1 games for Lyon this term, insists he wants to remain in France, even if Hubert Fournier’s men do not secure a place in the Champions League this term.
“It’s too early to tell of opportunities abroad,” he said.
“Either way, it will always be a sporting choice. Playing in Qatar next year does not interest me.
“I would like to extend my contract. I am at Lyon and if I feel that the project is continuing to move forward, I see myself staying – even if we do not qualify for the Champions League ”
Lyon currently sit top of Ligue 1 and lead Paris Saint-Germain by two points, though Laurent Blanc’s side have played a game less.
