The Black Meteors set up a meeting with Congo DR in the next round of qualifiers for the men’s football tournament of the 2016 Olympic Games after beating Liberia 5-1 at the Tamale Sport Stadium on Saturday.
The match was the return leg of the first match that Ghana won 2-0 at the same venue. The Liberians had been banned from playing at home following the outbreak of the Ebola virus earlier this year.
Ghana went up by two goals after 25 minutes through goals from Richard Gadze and Baba Mensah but the Liberians got one back when Van Dave Harmon scored in the 34th minute.
Dauda Mohammed scored twice in the second half to give a 4-1 lead and the result was confirmed by a Tamimu Muntari goal in the 77th minute.
The Black Meteors will face DR Congo in the first leg of the second round tie on the weekend of 22nd May.
