Reports: Essien passes Panathanaikos medical

According to reports, Michael Essien has passed his medical at Greek club Panathanaikos ahead of a move from Italian club AC Milan.

The former Chelsea midfielder flew to Athens on Monday to hold talks and complete the switch after he became a free agent.

Essien is being reportedly given a two-year deal worth 1 million euros a year.

On his arrival in Athens on Monday, fans came out to applaud and cheer him and others went further to take photographs with the 2012 UEFA Champions League winner.
