Ghana and new Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew has revealed his excitement at becoming the English club’s latest signing after completing the move from French team Lorient on Monday.
Ayew spoke to the club soon after signing for them and expressed his gladness at the switch after it almost fell through due to some difficulties Lorient and Aston Villa had over the transfer fee.
“I am the happiest man in the world. It’s one of my greatest days in football.
My dream was to play for a big team in England – and Aston Villa is undoubtedly one of the greats in English football.
It’s the biggest in the world. That’s why when the opportunity came, I didn’t have to think twice.
I know all about the Premier League because I have a big passion for football. I watched all the games when I was in France. I know all about the team and I know all the players by name.”
Ayew also spoke about the role played by Villa manager Tim Sherwood in his decision to join the Barclays Premier League.
“When I spoke to the coach I knew this was the place for me. I didn’t think twice. I knew he was the right coach for me.
He has so much enthusiasm and determination for the game of football. It took 10 seconds to work out he was the right coach for me and Aston Villa was the right team for me.”
Ayew has already met his new team-mates but it is unclear if he will play part in Aston Villa’s friendly match against Wolves on Tuesday.
However, he may play a part in Villa’s final pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest on the 1st of August, 2015.
Jordan Ayew’s first taste of the 2015/2016 Barclays Premier League season will be against his national team-mate Christian Atsu and his Bournemouth side on 8th August.
