Rafael Nadal’s title win in Hamburg ensured he moved up one place in the latest ATP Tour rankings.
The Spaniard defeated Fabio Fognini – who had beaten Nadal twice this season – in straight sets in the final of the German Tennis Championships on Sunday.
Nadal now sits in ninth in the rankings, one place behind Marin Cilic. The duo have both moved in front of Milos Raonic, who occupies the final berth in the top 10.
John Isner is back up to 18th after winning the Atlanta Open for a third year in succession, while Dominic Thiem – champion in Gstaad after a 7-5 6-2 win over David Goffin – is now at 21, a new career best for the Austrian.
Novak Djokovic remains the world number one and now sits over 4,000 points clear of his nearest rival, Roger Federer.
There are no changes in the top 10 in the WTA rankings, with Serena Williams continuing to hold a healthy lead at the summit.
However, Teliana Pereira and Margarita Gasparyan were big movers after both players won tournaments last week.
Pereira finds herself in 48th place after a 6-4 4-6 6-1 victory over Annika Beck on home soil in the final of the Brasil Tennis Cup in Florianopolis.
Gasparyan, meanwhile, is now inside the top 100 for the first time in her career following her success at the Baku Cup.
The Russian defeated Patricia Maria Tig in three sets to secure her maiden WTA title, with the result also lifting her to 71 in the world rankings.
