Ghana international Jordan Ayew will work under a new boss after head coach Tim Sherwood was fired on Sunday afternoon.
Sherwood, who took over as head coach of Aston Villa last February, led them to the FA Cup final where they lost to Arsenal and also guided them to escape relegation last season.
But six defeats in the opening ten games of the league this season meant the club had to make a decision and it chose one which it described as “imperative”.
A 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea on Saturday with Jordan Ayew getting his first goal of the season for the club was the one to force the hand of the Aston Villa management.
Aston Villa have only won once this season and they are currently 19th on the Barclays Premier League table.
Sherwood won 26 percent of the 28 matches he oversaw as Aston Villa coach.
