Ghana midfielder Michael Essien played his first match for Panathinaikos since joining at the start of the current season.
Essien was hampered by injuries after he joined the club and missed about three months of action but he got to play for the team for the first time on Saturday in their 1-0 loss away to Iraklis.
The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan player lasted the entire match and was deployed in defensive midfield together with Sergio Sanchez.
The match also marked the debut for new Panathinaikos coach Andrea Stramaccioni.
Panathinaikos are currently 3rd on the Greek Super League table with 22 points.
