Landmark Promotions, promoters of the rematch between Braimah “Bukom Banku” Kamoko and Ayittey Powers, have expressed their disappointment at assertions that the boxers are not important to the sports anymore.
The bout, dubbed “Repeat or Revenge”, is slated for December 26 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Peter Patterson, CEO of Landmark Promotions, told Citi Sports that the two boxers still held important places in Ghanaian boxing.
“If someone tells you that these boxers are not good enough, then that person is not a boxing fan.
Powers and Banku are not past their prime. I wonder what people mean when they say that. Is it in relation to their ages or their performances?”
Kamoko won the first bout in May 2014 and will be hoping for a repeat while Powers will be seeking for a win against his longtime rival.
Kamoko has predicted 5th round knockout while Powers aims to end the bout by the 8th round.
