Black Bombers handed life line ahead of Rio 2016 Olympics

Head of the technical directorate at the National Sports Authority Sakah Acquaye has revealed that Ghana’s Amateur Boxing Team the Black Bombers have been handed a second shot at qualifying for this years Olympic Games in Rio,Brazil.

The Black Bombers forfeited the opportunity to participate in the qualifying rounds at the AIBA World Championships in Doha October last year due to the inability of the State to raise the necessary funds required.

He revealed that through persistent negotiations with the appropriate bodies President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association Gideon Quartey had managed to secure another opportunity for Ghana’s Boxers to prove their worth.

“Boxing will get another chance to participate in the Olympic Games through the handwork of the Chairman Gideon Quartey.

“The qualifying series will come off in Cameroon in March so all attention will be directed towards preparations to ensure that Ghana is properly represented at the Games,”he told Citisports.
