Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey says he is happy at his inclusion in the Black Stars setup ahead of their 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday.
The player joined the rest of his colleagues in the national team for the second day of training at the Accra Sports Stadium yesterday after featuring for Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final last Saturday.
Partey was named with Patrick Twumasi and Kadri Mohammed as debutants for the Black Stars for the match against Mauritius and he says he is pleased with the invitation and he will make it count.
“I am happy to be here with the Black Stars. I have been working all my life to make it to the national team.
I am trying to do my best to fit into the team. It is every player’s dream to play for his country and it no different for me.”
The Black Stars need a point against Mauritius on Sunday to book a place in the 2017 AFCON tournament to be hosted by Gabon and Partey believes the team must target a win to make qualification very safe.
“We have to go out there and get all the points away in Mauritius. That will make things easy for us and seal our place in the tournament.”
