Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew is the subject of an £8million offer from Hamburg.
The 24-year-old Ghana international has scored three goals in two games during pre-season after finishing last term as Villa’s leading goalscorer.
Ayew has been the subject of enquiries from West Ham, Bordeaux and Galatasaray yet Villa owner Tony Xia said he would instead be staying as Roberto Di Matteo looked to secure promotion.
However, Hamburg’s offer would allow Villa to recoup what they paid Lorient for Ayew last summer.
Di Matteo’s side are preparing to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their relegation last season.
The Villa Park outfit have already secured the services of former Bournemouth star Tommy Elphick, Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and Aaron Tshibola this summer.
But they have lost Kieran Richardson, Charles N’Zogbia and Jose Angel Crespo – and Ayew could be next out the door after Hamburg stepped up their interest.
Should the Ghanaian arrive at the Volksparkstadion this summer, he will compete with the likes of Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Michael Gregoritsch for a first-team spot.
