Ghana’s Jordan Ayew found the net for Aston Villa in their 3-1 loss to Luton Town in the first round of the English Football League (EFL) Cup on Wednesday.
Ayew and his team-mates are trying to come back to the Premier League following their relegation last season and they were engaged in the cup competition as part of their season in the Championship.
The Black Stars forward shot Villa into the lead after 13 minutes with a shot that went across Luton goalie Walton into the net.
However, the home team scored through Jake Gray, Cameron McGeehan and an own goal from Jores Okore to make it to round two and leave Aston Villa in tears.
Ayew has been linked with a move to Swansea and Hamburg but nothing concrete is yet to emerge.
