Ghana international Jordan Ayew will return from international break to work under a new boss after Aston Villa sacked Roberto Di Matteo.
The Italian manager was sacked after picking just a victory in his first twelve games as manager of the club.
Villa got relegated to the Championship last season and their start has been disappointing and does not inspire confidence of an immediate return.
Aston Villa are currently 19th on 10 points in the 24-team Championship.
Steve Clarke who was brought in by Di Matteo as his assistant is expected to take charge of the team till a substantive manager is named.
Jordan Ayew joined Villa last season from Lorient and emerged as the club’s highest scorer in what was a disappointing turn out for the club.
Ayew has scored just a goal this season but has assisted four in what has been a difficult first two months in the Championship.
The next boss will be his 5th manager he has had at Villa since joining them last season.
