Ghana’s Black Queens drew 1-1 with the Super Falcons in the second Group B match of the ongoing African Women’s Championships in Cameroon.
The two teams had won their first group games and were hoping to build on that to book a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Ghana conceded first after Portia Boakye sent the ball into her own goal after goalkeeper Nana Ama Asantewaa failed to punch a free kick away.
The Queens pushed for an equaliser and found it in the 44th minute via a penalty.
Boakye was clipped by a Nigerian defender and the referee Akhona Zennith Makalima pointed to the spot.
Captain Elizabeth Addo kept her calm to steer the ball past Nigerian goalie Alaba Jonathan.
Both teams failed to find the net again for the rest of the match and they move to four points after their first two matches of the group.
In the other group match, Mali beat Kenya 3-1 to register their first win of the tournament and give themselves three points ahead of the final group match against Ghana on Friday.
