Head coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, Yusif Basigi, says that his team will not take a cavalier attitude approach into their final group match against Mali on Saturday in the ongoing African Women’s Championships in Cameroon.
The Queens are currently second to Nigeria on goal difference and the difference can be altered with a huge win against Mali.
Nigeria currently has a goal difference of 6 while Ghana has a difference of two from their 3-1 win over Kenya and their 1-1 draw with Nigeria.
But Basigi says that he will urge his players to be patient and take their chances rather than play in a gung-ho manner.
“Unfortunately for us, Nigeria scored a lot of goals against Mali and that has left them behind them. However, we will not be desperate to score a lot against Mali.
We will take our chances as and when they come. That is what I will tell my players. We will not be in a hurry to find goals and waste chances in the process.
Despite all that, we will still look to top the group.”
The match kicks off at 3pm Ghana time on Saturday.
