Black Queens head coach Yusif Basigi wants his team to end their run in the Women’s African Nations Cup with a win against South Africa on Friday.
The two teams will fight for the bronze medal after losing at the semi-final stage (Ghana lost to Cameroon and Nigeria beat South Africa) and Basigi says that the Queens should win their final match.
“I have told the players to go for the bronze medal since we could not get the chance to win the gold medal. We came to Cameroon for that but if it has eluded us, we should console ourselves by getting the bronze medal.”
South Africa, on the other hand, are also motivated and they want to win third place for themselves.
“The result against Nigeria was not good for us but the performance was good. I think we will carry that into the Ghana match. We want to win the bronze medal. We will try and get that and take it back home,” said South Africa defender Janine Van Wyn in an interview with SuperSport.
The match kicks off at 2:30 pm Ghana time.
