Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew believes that his abilities are not in doubt and he has the support of the rest of the team as Ghana takes part in the 2017 AFCON tournament in Gabon.
The Aston Villa player was speaking to journalists after helping Ghana to beat Mali 1-0 in the second group D encounter played at the Port Gentil Stadium on Saturday.
Ayew’s perfect cross was headed home by captain Asamoah Gyan in the 21st minute to decide the match and make Gyan Ghana’s all-time highest scorer at the African Nations Cup with 8 goals.
Jordan Ayew, who was criticised by Ghanaian fans on social media after the first match against Uganda, said that he was not fazed by comments and that he had full belief in himself as a player.
“I am always confident and I know the quality I have. The coach and the players have confidence in me and so, there is no problem.”
Ayew went to speak of his role in helping Ghana get the winning goal on the day.
“It was a good cross and a good finish but we had other chances to score more but we did not. In any case, we got the victory, we got our six points and we have made it to the quarter finals.”
