Black Stars Assistant Coach, Maxwell Konadu has played down suggestions of the team’s lack of goals in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Gabon.

Ghana have netted only twice in two games, and the seeming lack of creativity in the team, especially in the second half of their games has been worrying for fans.

Konadu says he is not concerned about the team’s shortage of goals and believes the team’s attacking statistics will improve with time.

“The tournament is of a very high quality, with all the best players on the continent present here.”

“No team is cheap, and defenders are smarter and wiser than before. In this new generation things are changing and strikers are finding it difficult to score two or three goals a match, especially in such a big tournament.”

“So I don’t think we are struggling to score. At least our front men have managed to put two goals past our opponents, and I think it’s not that bad, even though it’s not the best.

“But gradually I think we can improve,” Konadu said.

Ghana had a similar run in AFCON 2010 where the team scored just four goals enroute to the finals, eventually losing 1-0 to Egypt in the final.
