Head Coach of Elmina Sharks Kobina Amissah has confirmed the signing of former Hearts of Oak midfielder Kofi Abanga ahead of their opening match of the new league campaign.
The midfielder joined on a three year deal following a brief stint with Chinese second tier side FC Winning XY following his departure from Hearts of Oak.
The gaffer admitted that the arrival of Abanga has uplifted the mood at the club among both the playing body and the support base.
According to him,Abanga will be a focal point in the efforts of the club to market itself in their first season in Ghana’s top flight league.
“In our bid to improve the presence of this club we decided to bring in notable names like Kofi Abanga.
“He was signed purposely to help boost the profile of the club,you will remember very well his controversy with both Hearts and Kotoko in his early days.
“His inclusion has created a lot of euphoria among the fans and this is evident from the amount of media attention that the team has received ever since he arrived.
“His arrival will pull a lot of people to the stadium,”he said.
The newly promoted side will kick start their league campaign against defending champions Wa All Stars.
