Safo-Antwi, Owusu-Agyapong excel at AIT Grand Prix

Ghana’s Sean Safo-Antwi and Flings Owusu-Agyapong claimed podium places at the just-ended AIT Grand Prix Athletics Meet in Ireland.

The indoor event was held on February 15 and it featured athletes from the world over who competed in several track disciplines.

Safo-Antwi set a season record in the men’s indoor 60m of 6.56 seconds as he won the final of the event. Second went to Gittens Abraham of Barbados while Cherry D’Angelo came third.

Flings Owusu-Agyapong finished second to the USA’s Lekeisha Lawson in the women’s 60m finals.


Agyapong ran a time of 7.26 seconds while Lawson won the race in a time of 7.20 seconds.

Based on the results of the event, Safo-Antwi moved to 5th place in the world in the men’s 60m while Owusu-Agyapong is now 32nd in the women’s 60m standings.
