President Nana Akufo Addo has asked FIFA boss Gianni Infantino to ensure that Ghanaian and African football will also experience reforms in the running of football.
FIFA has undergone changes in the wake of bribery allegations which led to investigations and arrests by the United States Justice Department in 2015.
In recent times, some observers have called for the Ghana Football Association to go through some reforms to ensure accountability and it seems the President of the Republic agrees with the assertion.
“The reforms that you have initiated in the administration of global football have our full support. What we would like to see is that these reforms are translated into the administration of African football.
That will be a major achievement of your presidency which is highly welcome.
We want them to reach Africa so we can have some vibrant continental authority and organisation.”
FIFA President Gianni Infantino was in Ghana for a one-day working visit part of his travels to Africa to meet several football federations and hold talks on several football-related matters including the expansion of the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams in 2026.
