Ghana winger Christian Atsu played a key role for Newcastle United as they grabbed a very important 2-1 away to Brighton on Wednesday night in the English Championship.
The on-loan Chelsea player had been very active throughout the game and his effectiveness showed towards the end of the match.
In the 81st minute, his mishit shot found Mohammed Diame who flicked it over Brighton goalie David Stockdale to level the match after Glenn Murray had put Brighton ahead in the first half.
Atsu gave Brighton more headaches in the 89th when his pass found substitute Ayoze Perez who finished coolly past Stockdale.
The turnaround result has placed Newcastle United at the top of the Sky Bet Championship with 73 points. They play against 3rd-placed Huddersfield on Saturday.
Atsu’s performance earned him a rating of 7 from Newcastle-based online portal Chronicle Live.
The match was Atsu’s 21st for Newcastle since joining from Chelsea on loan and he was very pleased with how his night at Brighton went via his Twitter handle.
