Asante Kotoko have confirmed that head coach Zdravko Logarusic has left the country for his native Croatia following their lone goal defeat to rivals Hearts of Oak.
The Croat immediately left for the airport following the defeat to rivals Hearts of Oak, sparking a chain of reports that some top-ranking members of the club were displeased with the defeat and had taken the decision to fire him after only a few weeks in charge.
The club has however denied reports and insist that the manager has taken a routine holiday which is entrenched in the contract he signed prior to his acceptance of the position.
“Logarusic is not in town, he left right after the game and we have already been in touch with him.
“He is caught up in a transit situation in Turkey but is expected to proceed to Croatia.
“When Kotoko was signing the contract with him, both parties agreed that he would be allowed to travel back to his country on two different occasions to visit his family when there is ample time that is suitable.
“Approaching matchday 8 both parties realised that a window had opened for him to trigger the first-holiday break so we bought the ticket and made the necessary arrangement that right after the Hearts match he would leave.
“He will be back in time to handle the next round of matches and this decision was taken way before that game against Hearts.
“We know that meanings will be read into his departure but we had a target for him after the first five games and he has exceeded expectations,” revealed the club’s spokesperson Obed Acheampong.
