Ghana’s Christian Atsu scored once and played 68 minutes in Newcastle United’s 4-1 win over Preston on Monday in the English Championship.
The win sent Newcastle back to the Premier League a year after they were relegated.
Atsu got his goal just before half time when he was set up by Aleksandr Mitrovic on a counter attack to put Newcastle United 2-1 up. Ayoze Perez had given Newcastle the lead in the 7th minute but Jordan Huggil leveled for Preston.
On 68 minutes, Atsu was replaced by Yoan Gouffran.
The Magpies went on to score two more through Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez to seal the win and a ticket back to the Premier League.
The match was Atsu’s 30th since he joined the team on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season and he has scored four goals so far.

With Newcastle United and Brighton having gained promotion to the Premier League from the Championship, a third and final place will be determined among four teams which will go into the playoffs.
