Shakespeare confirmed as permanent Leicester manager

Leicester City have announced that Craig Shakespeare has signed a three-year contract to become the club’s permanent manager ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League season.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for me to continue along this new path in my career and to continue to work with a club and a group of staff I’ve grown extremely close to,” Shakespeare told lcfc.com.

Shakespeare was previously put in temporary charge at the King Power Stadium following the depature of Claudio Ranieri in February and guided the Foxes to a 12th-place finish.

He also became only the third manager in PL history to win his first five matches in the competition.

Shakespeare’s first assignment as manager will next month’s Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, where his side will compete alongside Liverpool, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.
