Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have won the race to sign Corentin Tolisso from Lyon.
The 22-year-old France midfielder, who had been linked with Chelsea and Juventus, has signed a five-year contract at the Allianz Arena.
Tolisso told fcbayern.com: “I had a wonderful time at Lyon, for which I was very grateful. Now I’m looking forward to playing for one of the best clubs in Europe. I have set myself high goals with Bayern. Today is a great day for me.”
The Tarare-born player, who was also used at right-back during his time with Les Gones, scored 14 goals from midfield last season but recently admitted he had wanted to leave Parc OL some time ago.
Bayern have already signed former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry and Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule this summer but chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hailed Tolisso as the “dream” capture.
“We are very happy that we were able to sign this young and very interesting player despite strong competition from abroad,” he said. “Corentin Tolisso was the dream player for boss Carlo Ancelotti.”
