Ghana and Newcastle winger Christian Atsu has acknowledged how important it was to score his debut Premier League goal but was quick to place team success above his own individual achievement.
His nineteenth minute effort from close range helped to propel Newcastle to a 2-1 win over Stoke City, making it three in a row for the Magpies.
The victory also means that Newcastle have now won three successive matches in the opening five games of a league campaign for the first time since the 2000-2001 season.
This milestone has led to a new found conviction about their capabilities as a team.
“I am very happy that the team won and I was also able to score my first Premier League goal.
“Three wins in a row is very important to help raise the team’s confidence.
“After we lost two games in a row,you can tell that we are a mentally strong side and we want to keep fighting,”he revealed.
