Kassim Nuhu, Thomas Partey and an own goal from Osama Hawsawi, gave the Black Stars a 3-0 victory in Jeddah against Saudi Arabia in an international friendly played on Tuesday.

The match followed Ghana’s exertions in Kampala on Saturday in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and it offered head coach, Kwesi Appiah, the opportunity to hand starts to some of the new players who had been given call-ups.

The Black Stars looked fairly comfortable in the match and they took the lead in the 44th minute through debutant Kassim Nuhu. He managed to find space and head in a corner kick which set the score at 1-0 to Ghana at half time.

In the 68th minute, Thomas Partey’s cross from the right flank was sent into the Saudi net by Osama Hawsawi who was trying to block the pass intended for John Antwi.

The Black Stars tripled their lead in the lead in the 88th minute through Partey. He received a pass from Ebenezer Ofori, turned round and fired home a shot from just outside the area.

The result was a measure of revenge for the Black Stars who lost 5-0 to Saudi Arabia in a friendly in 2007.
