Accra Hearts of Oak’s original points build-up of 48 at the end of the just-ended Ghana Premier League season will now read 45 points.
This is because three points have been deducted from the total for a violation of Article 39(8)(e) of the Ghana Football Association’s General Regulations.
The decision followed a protest filed by Great Olympics after their Week 25 meeting in Accra which ended 2-1 in favour of Hearts of Oak.
According to a release from the Ghana Football Association, Hearts violated a rule in relation to the payment of a fine. The club’s use of a cheque to pay the fine was the basis of Olympics’ protest and it was upheld at a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee.
The Committee has ruled the match as being forfeited by Hearts of Oak and the result will now read 3-0 to Great Olympics.
However, Olympics’ new points tally of 39 points will not save the team from relegation.
