Former Accra Hearts of Oak captain Joseph Owusu Bempah and former Bechem United striker Francis Afriyie are set for moves to Mexico after terminating their contracts with Serbian side FC Vojvodina, Citi Sports can exclusively reveal.

The two players were at the Mexican Embassy in Belgrade on Tuesday to secure visas to Mexico.

Bempah will sign a one year contract with Ascenso MX (2nd Division) outfit Murcielagos while Afriyie joins Pacific in the Liga Premier (3rd Division)

The move is being facilitated by American-based Italian agent Simone Ghirlanda.

Owusu Bempah joined Vojvodina in May this year on a three and a half year contract but after a great start to life in Serbia where he scored 3 goals in his first 4 appearances, he has since been relegated to the bench.

Meanwhile Former Bechem United striker Francis Afriyie who had earlier joined Vojvodina in March 2017 on an initial 6-month loan and an option for a 2-year contract has struggled for playing time.

Bempah’s former teammate in the Ghana U-20, Clifford Aboagye also plays in Mexico with Liga MX side Club Atlas.

The Ascenso MX is ranked the 3rd most competitive league in the CONCACAF region, same level as Major League Soccer.
