Head Coach of Ghana’s female U-20 side Yusif Basigi has paid tribute to his side after they were named in the final shortlist for the AITEO CAF Female National Team of the Year award.
The Black Princesses were named alongside Nigeria’s U-20 side and South Africa’ national side, after their fine form in 2017.
Basigi’s side have breezed through the world cup qualification process scoring 20 goals in 4 games and conceding just twice.
The former Black Queens man says the nomination is an indication of the team’s good work this year.
“I’m really very touched. The recognition given to the girls shows that they have really put up a splendid performance as far as this year is concerned,” he said.
“If CAF have recognized us and shortlisted us, it is a clear indication that the girls are doing well and we must continue to work extra hard. I’m looking forward to continue working hard, because this is just the beginning.”
The winner will be announced at the CAF Gala in Accra on January 4.
