CAF Player of the year 2017,Mohammed Salah failed to rule out the possibility of contesting to become President of Egypt in future.
The 25 year old Liverpool and Egypt forward pipped teammate Sadio Mane and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Africa’s top individual player award after a stellar season which saw him score a 39 goals in 60 official matches for both country and clubs.
The recent victory of former FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah in Liberia’s presidential polls has drawn global admiration and has been perceived as a major watershed moment for athletes especially footballers.
Salah is one who is known to wield a lot of influence in his home country and has seen his stature grow in leaps and bounds in the last few years.
When asked about his future presidential ambitions at the post awards press conference he answered.
“Wow, that is not an easy question.
“I am a footballer and I think only about football.
“It is difficult to answer this question because I am playing football and I am enjoying it.
“What can I say, wow, your question is pretty difficult.
“I have nothing more to say,I am playing and just enjoying football now,” he said in response.
