Accra Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars secured narrow victories in the opening day of the GHALCA G8 pre-season tournament.

Group A- Kumasi

In Kumasi, Aduana stars beat Premier League returnees Dreams FC 1-0 courtesy a Fatawu Abdul Rahman first half strike.

Aduana, who will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League this season, handed debut stars to new signings Hafiz Adams, Farouk Adams and Justice Anane whilst Congolese U-20 international Oba Ikama Ulitch and Gockel Ahortor came off the bench to make their first appearances for the Ogya Boys.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat new boys Techiman Eleven Wonders 1-0 in the other group game on Sunday.

Obed Owusu scored a first half penalty to give the Porcupine Warriors the victory.

GROUP B- Cape Coast

In Cape Coast, Isaac Mensah’s 28th minute goal was the difference as a dominant Hearts of Oak side dispatched premier league new boys Karela United 1-0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The Phobians dominated the game in the opening stages with Isaac Mensah guiding home the opener after fine work from Cosmos Dauda to send in the cross.  It ended up being the winner despite late pressure from Karela.

There was a moment of scare for Karela after Benjamin Mintah was left unconscious after being caught by the boot of Isaac Mensah but he later recovered.

Ebusua Dwarfs and Medeama played out one of the best matches in recent months at the Cape Coast Stadium with a 6-5 scoreline.

Kwame Boateng put the Yellow and Mauves ahead soon after kick off but Ebusua Dwarfs pulled level through Isaac Donkor and went 3-1 up with goals from Albert Hammond and Stephen Bentil.

Kwame Boateng scored again to get Medeama back into the game at 3-2 and Agyenim Boateng found the net to make it 3-3 at half time.

Joseph Tetteh Zuta and Agyenim Boateng scored after the break to make it 5-3 and Zuta’s second of the day made it 6-3.

Joseph Dabtora scored for Dwarfs and the score was now 6-4 and Joseph Esso sent a lovely free kick into the net to make it 6-5.
