Ghana’s female national football team, the Black Queens, have been drawn against host Cote d’Ivoire in Group A of the WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations. Niger and Burkina Faso are the other teams in the group.
In Group B, women’s football powerhouse, Nigeria, have been grouped alongside Senegal, Togo and Benin for the tournament which is scheduled for February 14 to 24.
The West Africa Football Union (WAFU) is reviving its regional competitions and successfully held the men’s edition in Ghana in September which was won by the host country.
The competition will serve as a pre-cursor for the West African teams who will be playing in the qualifiers for the 2018 Africa Women’s Championships which will be hosted in Ghana in late 2018.
Group A: Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Burkina Faso
Group B: Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, Benin
