Solomon Sarfo Tayor scored a first half hat-trick as Ghana Premier League new boys Karela United humiliated Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast to eliminate Dwarfs from the GHALCA G8 tournament.
Sarfo Taylor scored on the 25th minute after some awful defending from Dwarfs allowed him to head in before grabbing his second of the game two minutes later with a brilliant solo run to slot it past the Dwarfs goalkeeper.
Karela then got their third on the half hour mark after former Dwarfs’ player Isaac Kwain’s pinpoint cross was nodded in at the far post by Karela captain William Opoku.
Sarfo Taylor then completed his hat-trick on the 43rd minute and Karela’s 4th to head to the recess with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
The second half failed to produce any more goals as Karela saw out an impressive win that knocked out Bashir Hayford’s side who play Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday while Karela will need a win against already qualified semifinalist Medeama to secure passage into the last four.
In Kumasi, Aduana Stars also secured a place in the semifinal after a 3-1 win over Techiman Eleven Wonders.
Bright Adjei, Noah Martey and Oba Ikama scored three second half goals for Aduana Stars to make it two wins out of two for the league champions.
Larbi Koomson got the consolation for Eleven Wonders with a penalty.
Aduana Stars face Asante Kotoko on Sunday in the final round of group matches while Eleven Wonders, who are already out of the competition, take on Dreams FC.
