Chief Executive Officer of Baby Jet Promotions, Sammy Anim Addo, has revealed that the cost of the IBO Lightweight World title fight between Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe and Argentina’s David Saucedo will cost over $200,000.
The bout which takes place at the Bukom Boxing Arena on January 27 will be Tagoe’s first title defense since capturing the title back in 2016.
Anim Addo and is outfit are not the only ones who have expressed concern about the cost of organizing fight in the country as Ghanaian boxer, Isaac Dogboe, also recently hinted his reluctance to continue to stage his bouts in Ghana due to excessive costs.
Anim Addo has admitted that putting the bout together has taken a huge toll on his outfit.
“Organizing this bout hasn’t been easy. It has cost us over $200,000 already, and you can imagine always having to dish out this amount of money to organize a bout here,” he said.
“As we speak we have to buy plane tickets for all the officials in addition to the opponent and his team. There are more than eleven people coming from South America, USA, Italy and South Africa and the tickets ranges from $3,000 upwards.
“After, we have to think about the sanctioning fee and other things and its very draining.”
