Despite losing the final of the 2018 GFA/StarTimes Gala to Wa All Stars on Sunday, Techiman Eleven Wonders are satisfied with their output in the tournament.
Wonders made their way to the final after beating New Edubiase, Inter Allies and Elmina Sharks all via penalty shootouts and they impressed the fans who were at the Ndoum Stadium to watch the two-day tournament.
After the final, their coach, Mumuni Gamel, said that they were pleased with the work they did especially as the new Ghana Premier League season was on the horizon.
“It was unfortunate that we did not win the match against Wa All Stars but we thank God for everything. No one expected us to be in the final and we made it. It is an achievement that a Premier league debutant made it to the final of this competition.
I believe that the players would be happy with what we did and so, I am not disappointed at all.”
While Gamel was modest in his thoughts, the team’s General Manager, Takyi Arhin, revealed that the plan was to go as far as possible in the gala tournament.
“When we were preparing for the Gala, we targeted the last four and we managed to go past it. We are grateful for where we got to and we are happy.”
Eleven Wonders start their debut Ghana Premier League season at home to Hearts of Oak.
