Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association Ibrahim Sannie Daara has hit out at Accra Great Olympics after their court injunction against the start of the Ghana Premier League.
Olympics had a petition against fellow Ghana Premier League side, Bechem United, dismissed for “want of jurisdiction” but the ‘Dade’ lads believe they have a case that could possibly lead to the demotion of Bechem United and Olympics reinstated in their stead.
The case was heard last Tuesday after Olympics placed an injunction on all activities related to the Premier League last week, forcing the GFA and Premier League Board to cancel the launch of the new season and the annual general congress respectively.
According to Sannie Daara, clubs like Olympics, who impede the progress of the league, should be blamed for the league’s sponsorship struggles and not the GFA.
“It starts with the clubs. If they put their house in order people will be appreciative and come and sponsor them,” he said.
“You don’t put your house in order but turn around to blame the FA, meanwhile it is you who will delay the start of the league and put impediments on the progress of the league.
“When a sponsor is going to exercise his rights to benefit from sponsoring the league then the club prevents it and you still expect the FA to be able to secure more sponsorship deals?”
The start date for the new GHPL season is now unknown due to the court injunction.
