United Soccer League side Toronto FC II have announced the signing of Ghana’s Gideon Waja on a USL contract after reaching an agreement with West Africa Football Academy SC (WAFA SC).
The midfielder will join up with the rest of his new teammates upon receipt of his Canadian work permit.
Waja spent his entire career with WAFA SC, rising through the youth ranks to eventually become captain of the first team, where he made 59 appearances in the Ghana Premier League, scoring five goals.
Waja captained the side to an impressive second place finish during last season’s Ghana Premier League campaign.
The 21 year old was also part of the Black Stars B team that won last year’s WAFU Tournament in Ghana.
Waja was called up for two FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Congo in September 2017 but was an unused substitute in both matches.
