Ghana midfielder Michael Essien could be headed to the South Korean K-League after revelations leaving Indonesian side Persib Bandung earlier this week.
Essien spent one year in Indonesia before being released by the club to make way for an additional foreign player signing.
Essien’s free agent status means several clubs are interested in snapping up the former Chelsea man.
Clubs in the American Major League Soccer and other Indonesian clubs like Bali United have been linked to the 35-year old but Essien could yet be going across to South Korea as revealed by the president of Persib Bandung, Kuswala S. Tatrono.
“I have not talked to Essien yet, but a K-League club is interested in recruiting Essien,” Tatrono said as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.
Any such move will have to be completed before next Thursday when the K-League transfer window closes.
